What’s This Course About

This course equips housing professionals with the knowledge and confidence to meet their legal duties under Awaab’s Law, the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS). You’ll learn how to identify, assess, and respond to to emergency  hazards, (gas leaks, unsafe electrics, severe damp) hazards that pose significant risks Excess cold and heat, Falls, Structural collapse and explosions, Fire Hazards, Electrical hazards, Domestic and personal hygine and food safety) and the other significant hazards covered by the legislation (Asbestos, Carbon monoxide, Lead, Pests, Noise, Lighting, Water supply). Understand what emergency hazards would look like and the timeframes that apply.

Named after Awaab Ishak, a two-year-old boy who tragically died due to prolonged exposure to mould in his social housing flat, Awaab’s Law marks a turning point in tenant safety. From October 2025, social landlords must investigate and resolve emergency hazards within 24 hours and significant hazards within 10 working days.
